LAURA ANAWATY

Originally born and raised in Houston, Texas, Laura Anawaty began her dance training at the age of five at Robins Dance Studio. She further expanded her artistry at Meyerland Performing and Visual Arts Middle School, where she trained in many different styles under the direction of Chadwick Peters. Following her passion, she attended The Kinder High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, where she studied ballet, modern, jazz, musical theatre, choreography, and improvisation under the guidance of Janie Carothers. After graduating in 2020, Laura pursued dance at the University of Texas at Austin, earning a BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography with a minor in Arts Management and Administration. During her time at UT Austin, she performed in numerous mainstage works with the Dance Repertory Theatre and choreographed several pieces for Dance Action’s S.E.E.D (Students Exhibiting Experimental Dance). Since graduating in 2024, she has returned to Houston where she continues to develop her artistic practice, teaching and performing with local artists through Dance Source Houston. Laura strives to use her passion for dance to inspire and mentor the next generation of artists. Laura will perform Jessie’s work, DPRTRE7, at {254}DANCEFEST in Waco, TX this January.
